The
PSAT/NMSQT is administered to all 10th and 11th graders
and freshmen that have completed Algebra I. This test
is vitally important to college readiness and is the
test that the National Merit Scholarship Program uses
for admittance into its competitive programs. Our faculty
also use the scores from this test to place students
in appropriate classes for the next school year. Results
of the PSAT are received and distributed to failies
in December.
AP
Audit Update
At
the end of the 2006-2007 school year, every high school
in the country, that teaches an AP course, had to submit
a detailed curriculum guide, scope and sequence and syllabus
for their subject to the college board. Deadlines were
met and we waited patiently for the review team to approve
or reject our courses. Any school that had a rejected
course was not allowed to teach that course during the
current schoolyear.
GOOD
NEWS! PCCA submitted seven courses for review: AP Literature&Composition,
AP Language & Composition, AP Calculus, AP Biology,
AP United States History, AP Government, and AP European
History. Every one of our 7 courses were approved on
the first round. Congrats to our team of teachers and
their hard work that made this happen.
Memorable Trips!
In December, the Eagle Vocal Ensemble flew to Washington,
D.C. to sing for the National Christmas Pageant of Peace.
PCCA was the only Florida school to be invited to sing
for this annual event, which is held in front of the
White House, next to the National Christmas Tree. This
past month the eighth graders also headed to DC for their
annual class trip, which is the culmination of their
study of American History. The fifth graders also traveled
to Tallahassee to visit their state capital. This trip
is part of their required studies as they learn about
Florida history.
The senior class
attended their last day of school on May 16th and two
days later took off on an amazing adventure
to Costa Rica. After arriving in San Jose, their itinerary
included a catamaran ride to the sandy beaches of Tortuga
Island and a trip to Fortuna and Mt. Arenal, one of the
world’s most active volcanoes. While in the rainforest
they hiked down to a spectacular waterfall, soaked in the
hot springs and went horseback riding before a shopping
stop in Sarchi. Their trip included a visit to La Carpio,
a Nicaraguan community with tremendous physical and spiritual
needs. It was the trip of a lifetime.
PCCA's
10th grade class visited the mountains of Tennessee.
The students had a chance to strengthen relationships,
team build, and enjoy the outdoors as a class. The photo
shows one group on the whitewater rafting experience

PCCA's
9th, 11th, and 12th grade classes took their yearly class
retreat to Camp Kalaqua located outside of Gainesville,
FL. They enjoyed fellowship and spiritual growth, and
elected class officers.
Spiritual
Mud Day
Pictures
from a past event......Upper School had a successful
Spiritual Emphasis Day. which began the day with
some motivational speakers, had a
