Pre-Kindergarten
3, 5-day program
Mrs. McGowan begins our introduction to
preschool by teaching our three year olds.
K3
students are introduced to our campus for the first time,
and are introduced to chapel, the lunchroom, the computer
lab (with tables and chairs that are just their size!),
and the K3 classroom. They tour the entire campus to help
the students feel comfortable in their new surroundings.
K3 is a time to learn to play properly, to listen attentively,
and to understand how much fun school can be!
K3
students work to master fine and gross motor skills through
practical exercises and plenty of play. Students especially
enjoy monthly field trips.
Pre-Kindergarten 4 (3-day or 5-day program)
Mrs. Duricheck is working
with our four year olds to prepare them for kindergarten.
K4 is a year of growth and development, as we foster social,
physical, spiritual, and academic progress. Letters, sounds,
printing, numbers, coordination, critical thinking, fine
motor skill mastery, puzzle solving, and practical skills
are encompassed in our stimulating curriculum. The classroom
is colorful and intriguing, helping us captivate the attention
of our little ones who are so eager to learn. Field trips,
class projects, and special units highlight our year together.
Their favorite part of teaching four-year olds is sharing
Jesus with them. They do this because they love the children
and are certainly called by God to do so. They want their
first year in school to make a lasting impression on them,
and at PCCA, we do all that we can to make this goal a
reality.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten is a monumental year for moms, dads, and students,
and Mrs. Trenary will
help make this year a time to learn and to have fun.
The
excitement of kindergarten permeates the year. The material
includes letters and sounds, and by the end of the year
they are able to read! Their Bible lessons teach them
about
people
from the Old Testament such as Adam and Eve, Noah, Moses,
Daniel, and Jonah. They also study Christ's birth and
the
life of Paul. In Math they study numbers, money and clocks.
Kindergarten is a time to learn the skills that will
carry
the students through the rest of their school days.

First Grade
Mrs. Newton and Mrs. Baucom lead our first
graders through their studies in spelling, Bible, math,
reading,
phonics,
language, writing skills, science and social studies along
with Art, Music, Computer, and Physical Education.
First
graders love learning to read, using the spelling/phonics
rules Mrs. Newton and Mrs. Baucom teach. Accelerated
Reader is a great motivator because the children earn
points
while
taking computerized tests, and the teachers often give
points parties when students meet their goals. The math
meeting
time is a highlight of our day, especially when it is your
turn to be the "Student of the Day". Using
manipulatives is another exciting way that we introduce
math concepts.
Hands-on learning is an important key to our students'
success!
Annual
highlights include a 100th Day of School Celebration, the
Accelerated Reader Program, and an array of academic activities
designed to further each child's abilities.

Second
Grade
Second Grade is a year of learning to be responsible and
to make wise choices that please God. Led by Mrs. Goodman, second graders learn about the life of
Moses and his responsibilities, and how his choices affected
his people.
Throughout
the year the students enjoy learning to read independently
and writing in cursive. They begin to learn to read Math
problems and solve them quickly in addition to practicing
their Math facts daily to increase speed.
Second
grade goes on field trips to the Downtown Public Library,
SeaWorld, and Gatorland to observe the amazing world that
God has created for us to live in.

Third Grade
Third Grade is a year of learning to be responsible and
to make wise choices that please God. Led by Mrs. Parker
and Mrs. Gaskins, third graders learn about Abraham and
Joseph, two of our Bible Heroes who trusted and obeyed
God and
saw that God kept His promises!
Throughout the year the students enjoy learning about American
Indians and Pioneers, animals and their different characteristics,
and rain forests (just to name a few). They begin to learn
their multiplication facts, too.
Third grade goes on a field trip to Fort Christmas, in addition
to various science and art-related trips.

Fourth
Grade
Fourth Grade is an exciting year of social and spiritual
development. Mrs. Hicks and Mrs. Ritchhart emphasize a study
of personality types and how God has designed each of us
to glorify Him in our special way.
U.S. Geography and Florida History are the focus in Social
Studies. Math is a building block of all the foundational
skills as well as an emphasis on long division and word
problems. In reading, we enjoy various novels such as Pilgrim's
Progress and The Black Stallion. Science is a study
of God's creation and much of the year is focused on health
and honoring our temple. In English, students identify parts
of speech and become proficient writers.
To complement
our study of Florida History, we tour the city of St. Augustine
where the rich culture of early Florida comes to life.
Fourth
grade uses a team-teaching approach.

Fifth grade is an exciting time at Pine Castle Christian
Academy! This is the final step in the elementary school
and Mrs. Powell makes certain that the
students enjoy their year.
Throughout the year the students read several novels, including The Tale of Despereaux and The Westing Game, which are the focus of the fifth-grade reading curriculum.
The fifth grade field trips are an overnight trip to Tallahassee and a play.
