Guidance
Greetings
from the Guidance office at PCCA!
Here
at the Academy we believe that it is important to provide
all of our students with the preparation and information
necessary for life after high school. As they prepare for college,
our main goal is to ensure that they are equipped to
make
wise choices and intelligent decisions in and out of school.
If you have any questions about how we prepare our students
for college and beyond please contact
our guidance office at 407-313-7222..
Information
on the Guidance office at PCCA
Equipped
with fourteen iMacs, a college Resource Center, career
counseling materials, a conference area, a Guidance Director
and a Registrar, PCCA's Guidance Department is prepared
to equip our students with the information and tools
they need to make educated choices about high school
coursework, summer studies, and post-high school plans.
The College Night presentation by guidance kicks-off college activities. The school year is also filled with on-site visits from Colleges, both local and out of state. PCCA also joins forces with13 other local private schools who are a part of the Central Florida Consortium of Private School Counselors (CFCPSC) to host the Central Florida College Fair, held locally in the Winter. Over 120 colleges, small and large, public and private, from around the Nation send their own admissions officers to talk to families and provide information. This event is open only to students who attend schools who are part of the Consortium.

The
PSAT/NMSQT is administered to all 11th graders. This
test is vitally important to college readiness and is
the test that the National Merit Scholarship Program
uses for
admittance into its competitive programs. Our faculty
also use the scores from this test to place students
in appropriate
classes for the next school year. Results of the PSAT are
received and distributed to families in December.
The PLAN Test is administered to all 10th graders in the fall. This test is a pre ACT test and gives an estimated ACT score. It also lets students know if they are on track for college, points out their academic strengths and areas to improve, and helps students find careers that match their interest.
9th graders take the SAT 10 test in the spring.
